Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant shunned any chances of returning for playoffs in August. Nets standing 5th in east will advance into playoffs without their all-star Kevin Durant. After tearing his Achilles Tendon during game 5 of NBA finals last year, he didn’t return for the 19-20 season. Kevin Durant also tested positive for Covid-19. Keeping in mind his rehabilitation and players’ safety he doesn’t want to return for the rest of the season
“My season is over,I don’t plan on playing at all. We decided last summer when it first happened that I was just going to wait until the following season. I had no plans of playing at all this season.”
–Kevin Durant told The Undefeated
Brooklyn Nets’ questionable Playoff chances
Kevin Durant first injured himself in game 6 against Houston rockets last year due to which he could not finish the playoff run. Despite being warned by the medical staff, he returned for the finals when warriors needed him. As a result, he tore his Achilles Tendon in the first quarter which led to him missing the entire 19-20 season. Kevin Durant was committed to taking the summer off for proper rehabilitation and he plans to stick to it.

Furthermore, Nets have lost their point guard Kyrie Irving to a shoulder injury. Kyrie and the Nets are yet to confirm his chances of return. After leading Nets to 5th seed in the eastern conference, he might have to take the season off.
The Brooklyn Nets will be facing Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of playoffs. Without Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, it’s going to be a tough series. It gives them more time to prepare for the next season when they have their entire roster fit and ready. And with the Bradley Beal trade rumors going around, the Nets might be legitimate title contenders.
