AEW did a great job on Sunday’s Double Or Nothing PPV, as the event ended up being better than what many expected it to be. While the highlight of the night was the return to MJF, Adam Copeland’s victory against Malakai Black also grabbed a lot of attention, as Edge and Black delivered an exceptional performance inside the ring.
Their match was filled with a lot of crazy spots, as The Rated R-Superstar even jumped from the top of the cage during their encounter. But even before their match began, the veteran did something that he wasn’t allowed to do during his last run in WWE, as he had an entrance giving a tribute to his association with The Brood.
The veteran wrestler introduced a brand new entrance featuring the faction on the screen, and its music was pretty similar to their original theme. As this special entrance wasn’t expected by the audience, it received a massive reaction from the crows in Las Vegas, which showed that they absolutely loved it.

While this was a great moment, what happened in the final moments of Edge’s match was even more memorable. In the closing moments, WWE veteran Gangrel made a shocking appearance by coming out from under the ring when the House of Black was about to execute Copeland. Making his appearance on the show, he received a huge ovation from the fans.
After making his presence felt, he saved his old friend from the heel faction, who was positioned with a crown of wire around him. In fact, The Vampire Warrior didn’t just save him from a vicious assault; his involvement in the match also allowed The Rated R-Superstar to secure the win in this high-profile fight.
WWE declined Edge’s idea for WrestleMania 39 involving Gangrel
AEW’s decision to give the entrance to Adam Copeland was a bit more special than usual because WWE declined Edge’s idea for WrestleMania 39 involving Gangrel. It was revealed by The Rated R-Superstar himself that the Stamford-based promotion didn’t support him in bringing back his former mate from The Brood for his match against Finn Balor at The Grandest Stage of Them All.
The veteran revealed this on Chris Van Vliet’s podcast, that the idea was shut down and denied by everyone backstage. He said, “Every person shut it down. I’d always get the ‘nobody remembers’. I’m like, people remember, wrestling fans remember and wrestling fans want to be rewarded for remembering, and that’s a way to reward them.”
Despite not having Gangrel on his side, Adam Copeland made a brood-styled entrance at WrestleMania 39, which was iconic. In fact, he defeated The Demon in a great match, but if WWE had given him the green flag to bring his former friend back for a special appearance on The Showcase of the Immortals, things could have been even better.
Edge’s first AEW rival was also a part of The Brood
After Adam Copeland left WWE in September 2023, he made his debut for All Elite Wrestling, and his connection with the Attitude Era faction continued in this company too. The reason behind this is that Edge’s first AEW rival, Christian Cage, was also a part of The Brood faction in the Stamford-based promotion.
These two were a successful tag team in the Triple H-led promotion, but before that, they had a stint as mates in the factionmates. As The Rated R-Superstar made his debut for the Tony Khan-led promotion against his former friend, it would have surely brought up a lot of memories for the legendary in-ring star.
Even though the veteran’s feud with Christian has ended with Gangrel’s appearance on Double Or Nothing PPV, it remains to be seen if these three are going to have a program together or not. If AEW books all three of them in a storyline, it’s surely going to be a must-watch, and it is also going to be nostalgic for these pro wrestling superstars.
