Last week on AEW Rampage, Jon Moxley made his long-awaited return to AEW in-ring action. The former AEW World Heavyweight Champion had been in rehab for alcohol abuse for the past 3 months. Moxley looked in great shape and wrestled Ethan Page, defeating him in a highly competitive match.
Post his match, another superstar made his first appearance since losing to Hangman Page in the AEW World Heavyweight Championship Match, Bryan Danielson. As Moxley was making his way back through the crowd, Bryan stood in his face and simply clapped. The Lunatic Fringe was not amused, as the two planted seeds for a future feud between them.
What is going on here! It seems as though #TheAmericanDragon has some unresolved business with @jonmoxley?!

Today, we take a look at 5 ways the match could end if AEW follows through on this incident.
Bryan Danielson wins clean
As noted earlier, this was The American Dragon’s first appearance in AEW since losing to Hangman Page in the title clash. Facing Moxley would be the perfect next feud for Bryan and he may just pin Moxley clean. He is one of the megastars in AEW and defeating a former AEW World Champion could put Danielson right back in the title picture.
Jon Moxley wins clean
The second-ever AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley made his return to AEW after a gap of three months. It is no secret that he will be rearing to have a go at the AEW World Heavyweight Championship again. The All-Elite Wrestling Promotion will be looking to take advantage of the hype surrounding Moxley’s return. A clean win over Bryan would accomplish the same and put Moxley right back in the main event picture.
Bryan Danielson turns heel
Bryan Danielson is a lovable and popular face in the pro-wrestling industry. However, his best work comes as a heel. Just look at Bryan’s last run as the WWE Champion. The American Dragon was appreciated around the world for his work as a heel. Debuting Bryan’s heel persona in AEW would give a fresh chance to his character and open up more feuds for him in the future.
Jon Moxley turns heel
There’s a reason why Moxley is commonly referred to as The Lunatic Fringe. A face vs face bout is common in the pro-wrestling circuit but it often confuses the audience as to who should they support? Therefore, AEW might just turn Moxley heel for his feud versus Bryan. The two are great storytellers in the ring, Moxley’s heel turn could give a new dimension to this feud if AEW is looking at it long-term. This brings us to…
The match ends in a draw
AEW’s next big pay-per-view Resolution is 6 weeks away. This gives the writers ample time to build up the Moxley-Bryan feud. Both superstars are technically gifted and can give us a high octane, edge-of-the-seat thriller on their first match together in AEW. A draw protects the credibility of both their characters and enables AEW to build an intriguing feud between the former WWE World Champions.
What do you think is going to happen when Bryan Danielson faces off against Jon Moxley? Will AEW let them reference their time in WWE?
