By now, every wrestling fanatic knows that Cody Rhodes is no longer part of AEW. Rhodes was the Executive Vice President for AEW. He was one of the first few to begin All Elite Wrestling. Kenny Omega is one of the best friends with Cody Rhodes. Recently, Omega opened up about Rhodes and his departure from the company. Omega also spoke about what Cody’s future looks like and at the same time, what Kenny’s future looks like as well.
The Cleaner opens up on Cody Rhodes
Last week, AEW’s longest-reigning World champion Kenny Omega did an interview for Wrestling Observer Radio. Omega talked about his AEW career and also about Cody Rhodes and his departure from the company. Omega said that his contract is coming to an end in the next year and he would need to re-sign while the Young Bucks could look at other promotions as well.
“I’m up next year, just straight up, done. So I’d have to resign a new one. There’s no option.”
When asked about Cody’s departure, Omega said that he was indeed shocked but at the same time he does not believe money was the issue either. The Cleaner also said that Cody Rhodes was clear in his vision for AEW from the start and everyone had the same vision. In fact, everyone had the same vision. But at the same time, things change and maybe Cody’s vision changed.
Cody Rhodes was the only person that wanted to go into ‘War’ with WWE. The rest of them wanted to focus on providing good wrestling for the fans.
“That’s sort of where The Bucks and I differed where we never wanted to go to war with Vince or WWE. We just wanted to give people an option and just get us a platform for our brand of storytelling and our style of wrestling. I think when Cody had his way of going about things, I wasn’t sure how to follow up with that, nor was I interested. So there was sort of like, there’s Kenny doing his thing. There’s The Bucks doing their thing. There’s the Codyverse over there doing whatever it is that he does.”
Is Cody Rhodes a sell-out?
The Cleaner also mentioned that he heard Cody was on a flight to Saudi Arabia. Although, Cody did not feature at the Elimination Chamber event, Kenny may have hinted that the former AEW’s EVP is going to join WWE. If he did sign with WWE yet again, then it makes me wonder if all Cody Rhodes cared about is money. Kenny did say that he thinks the money was not the issue for Rhodes, but I beg to differ. If Rhodes has signed with WWE, then all that trash-talking about WWE was nothing but lies?
As per reports from other former WWE wrestlers, WWE was indeed a bad company to work with. So, after mocking WWE, throughout his AEW career, Cody Rhodes is re-signing with the same company? This clearly shows that Rhodes only cares about the money and he would do anything for it. We also are seeing fans trolling Rhodes on Twitter already about him re-joining WWE.

Do not get me wrong, Cody Rhodes has a beautiful vision for professional wrestling. That is the vision that has given us AEW, but it is disappointing that it all comes down to money nowadays.
Do you think Cody Rhodes is a sell-out? Will he join WWE? Let us know in the comments.
