Polish star Iga Swiatek has been on a roll of late. She scripted history by winning the WTA Finals for the first time in her career. It has been a memorable week of tennis for Iga. However, it could have been made better with one other thing: her favorite dessert.
Swiatek enjoyed a wonderful run of form in the latter half of the season. She will now end the year as the world number-one player after dethroning Aryna Sabalenka. Swiatek has capped off the year with wins in China and now Mexico and has thus established her dominance.
Iga defeated Jessica Pegula to win the silverware in Cancun. She even shared an emotional moment with her father and team following her victory. However, a funny moment stood out during the presentation ceremony. When Iga was presented with the trophy, she took the lid off immediately to check if there was tiramisu in it!

Iga’s love for tiramisu is very well known. The Pole has a history of finding her favorite dessert in trophies, which dates back to when Iga won the US Open last year. Swiatek was answering questions after defeating Ons Jabeur in the final when an official told her there was something inside the trophy. Iga was pleasantly surprised to find tiramisu in the silverware.

Since then, Iga has checked the trophies, even if she is disappointed. Fans also partake in some good-natured ribbing, and this time was no different. One fan even joked, “Again, no tiramisu,” when Iga did not find the sweet treat in the WTA Finals trophy.

Iga Swiatek was absolutely emphatic in her victory against Jessica. She looked menacing from the get-go and served Pegula a bagel in the second set, winning the match 6-1, 6-0.
Tiramisu is not the only dessert Iga Swiatek is fond of
The fact that Iga has a sweet tooth is known to all. What is also known is Iga’s penchant for serving ‘bagels’ to her opponents. In tennis, serving a ‘bagel’ means when a player wins a set against their opponent by a score of 6-0. Swiatek has served 23 bagels this season alone.
Iga did it again in the final against Jessica. The American took to social media to mock her own scoreline against Swiatek in Cancun. She shared of photo of a glass of wine with the caption, “Ended the year through the Iga bakery factory lol.”
Iga Swiatek will end the year the way she started it—at the top of the WTA rankings. By winning the prestigious year-end trophy, Swiatek has added yet another feather to her cap.
