- Reese believes her transition to the WNBA has been quite easy.
Right off the bat, it’s easy to determine who is destined for greatness and Angel Reese is one of those individuals who will eventually find their way up the top. Obviously, having won an NCAA Championship in 2023 and various other accolades, Reese was initially projected to be a top-five pick. Unfortunately, she fell to the seventh pick and wound up with the Chicago Sky.

Reese has already been dominating to a point where she might pose a major threat to Caitlin Clark’s Rookie of the Year case. Following her recent game against the Las Vegas Aces, Reese became the fastest WNBA player to record 100 rebounds since Breanna Stewart did it in 2016. She was the first WNBA player to record double-doubles with five or more steals in two consecutive games this season as well.
Angel Reese always knew her transition to the WNBA would be easy
Angel Reese was extremely dominant during her time at LSU playing under legendary coach Kim Mulkey. During a recent interview with CBS Sports, the 22-year-old gave all credit to her former Mulkey claiming that she was responsible for getting her prepared for the big leagues. Reese also highlighted a key difference between college basketball and the WNBA.

She said, “I think the speed is actually faster, of course. But for me, coming into the league, I know defense and rebounds are something I always can take to the next level. I knew that was going to be my thing. I think I’ve done a great job being great on defense and rebounding. I think I have a lot more room for growth offensively, but I think I’ve done a great job so far.” Right now, Reese averages 9.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game which is the fifth highest average in both categories in the league.
Shaquille O’Neal will never stop supporting Angel Reese
Angel Reese recently had a controversial moment while addressing the amount of recognition Clark has been receiving despite her efforts to make the WNBA a top-tier league. Reese stated that many other individuals along with herself deserve a lot more credit for boosting the W’s viewership.
Her mentor, Shaquille O’Neal also supported her take on this matter saying, “One person may have all the props, but it’s never one person. Don’t say we’re getting new sponsorships because of Caitlin. What about Angel, what about [Kamilla] Cardoso? What about my favorite, Kelsey Plum?” Interestingly, the Sky has had more success with Reese than Clark or Cameron Brink have had with their teams.
