Conor McGregor was in attendance at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland for the Bellator 275 PPV. The Notorious surprised the fans with his presence as he showed his support to fellow SBG Ireland teammate Lee Hammond who was making his promotional debut.
Following his teammate’s impressive victory, The former UFC champion gave a backstage interview to Sean Sheehan. While having a conversation, Sheehan asked McGregor about an update regarding his leg injury. The Irishman provided a positive response and indicated that he would start sparring from April.
“Very good, very good, it’s getting better day by day. Day by day I feel better. They’re telling me to just take it easy and you know but I feel I can go so I just need to kind of you know pull the reins back on my own self and that’s what I’m doing. April they said I can spar again and I can box again basically. So I’m just going to take it day by day.”
“Once I get back sparring, I’ll know weight, I’ll know feel, I’ll know my own style. I’m gonna develop a different style I imagine.”
Conor McGregor believes he can make his comeback inside the octagon by July
After Conor McGregor said that he would return to spar from April, the interviewer asked him at what weight class would he make his return from his injury. The Irishman who is currently weighing somewhere around 190 pounds revealed that he would most likely compete in the lightweight or welterweight division.
“I’m not sure, to be honest, yet, I’m not sure. 155, 170 I’d imagine,” said McGregor. Thereafter the Notorious also gave a target month for his return inside the UFC octagon.
“July seems okay for me you know. I can’t say too early but if I spar in April, May, June, July you know I could get in and slap most of these guys at the end of April. My spar could be a fight.”
It is needless to say that McGregor’s injury update in this interview would excite the entire world as he will make a comeback after suffering a horrific injury against Poirier in July last year. Do let us know in the comments section who you think should The Notorious face in his comeback fight?
