There is less than a week left for this mouth-watering clash between Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title. This will be a five-round contest in the main event of UFC 265 which will take place in Houston, Texas. Further, the winner of this fight will be one step closer to the heavyweight belt.
As a result, if Ciryl Gane wins this weekend he will get the opportunity to face Francis Ngannou for the title. Moving on some fans could be unaware of the fact that the current heavyweight champion and Bon Gamin were training partners in the past. The two heavyweight fighters trained under head coach Fernand Lopez at the MMA Factory.
Ngannou and Ciryl trained with each other a few times during their time together at MMA Factory. Everything was going well as Francis worked his way to the top with head coach Fernand Lopez. However, things turned south after The Predator lost his fight against Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title at UFC 220. Consequently, Francis and Lopez had a fallout which resulted in Ngannou leaving the MMA factory.
This resulted in Ciryl Gane and Francis Ngannou going in separate directions as the French Fighter chose to remain loyal and stick to coach Lopez and MMA Factory. Whereas Francis Ngannou joined Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas in 2018 and reached new heights by winning the title against Stipe Miocic in their rematch at UFC 260.
Ciryl Gane believes that fighting Francis Ngannou is not important for him
Ciryl Gane is always questioned on how he would feel about facing his former teammate and current champion Francis Ngannou in the future. This is because of the fallout between Ngannou and head coach Fernand Lopez. However, he has always been respectful of The Predator and has appreciated his skills on numerous occasions.

Therefore it was quite obvious that this question would come up once again ahead of his interim title fight against Derrick Lewis. Bon Gamin responded by commenting “I don’t want one fight. I don’t want one fighter. I want to fight everybody. This is a sport to me. Every fight I’ve had I’ve fought with a good feeling, not with a bad feeling. I just want to put on a great performance for the fans. No matter who, I want to do my job.”
As a result, this statement makes it clear that Ciryl Gane does not care who he fights in the future and also believes that one fight would not determine his entire legacy. Moreover, he is not looking past Derrick Lewis and has his eyes set on the interim gold this weekend at UFC 265.
