The former world number 1, after retiring has recently revealed that winning the Wimbledon was one of her biggest dreams ever since she was a child and it was gratifying for her after winning the 2021 Wimbledon since she had achieved a major goal in her life.
The Australian player shocked everyone in the tennis fraternity after she declared her intentions to retire from tennis earlier in 2022. She recently in an interview revealed that she won the Wimbledon and eventually went on to win the title by playing with a 10 cm long tear in her abdomen.
This surely is a commendable feat since the abdominal tear would potentially be causing her a lot of pain and discomfort especially while playing the games.
Ashleigh Barty’s retirement made way for the resurgence of Iga Swiatek who has been on a long winning streak and the polish star is also set to win her first Wimbledon title. Before her retirement, Ashleigh Barty surely was the best player to play on the court during the era of her dominance.
