Novak Djokovic is to be dethroned from his World No 1 position by Daniil Medvedev, and it is expected that his rankings would be further dropping in the upcoming weeks taking into consideration the lack of ranking points in the upcoming Wimbledon Championship.

Even though Daniil Medvedev has been banned from taking part in the Wimbledon this year due to the decision of the organisers to ban all Russian players, he will be reclaiming his World No 1 spot and Alexander Zverev would be climbing over to the World No 2 spot in the ATP rankings.
The sudden drop in Djokovic’s ranking came after he collected the 2000 points in the French Open win in 2021 is expected to be dropped. His points from the Wimbledon win are also expected to drop.
Taking into consideration all these drops in his ranking points, it is expected that Djokovic would be ranked around 7th in the ATP rankings next month. Even though his rankings have dropped, he has been quite vocal in his support of the Russian players’ ban by the organisers of the Wimbledon.
Novak Djokovic’s ranking woes will only increase if he would miss the US Open owing to the travel restrictions since he has refused to take the COVID vaccine. This would be the first time since 2018, that Novak Djokovic has dropped out of the top 5 rankings.
Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer – End of an Era?
The Big 3, which comprises Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have been the most dominant force in tennis since the open era. No one has won more matches in a consistent manner than the Big 3 members.v
Streak Stopped ☑️
For the first time since November 2003, none of Djokovic, Nadal or Federer are ranked in the ATP Top 2@DaniilMedwed 🤝 @AlexZverev pic.twitter.com/8eoaGWXdkG

Rafael Nadal recently achieved the feat of clinching the highest titles in the Open Era and extending his title record in the French Open by winning his 14th title in Paris. However, it seems that the sun is finally setting on the era of the Big 3. For the first time since 2003, neither of the Big 3 members have been in the Top 2 rankings.
Obviously, this can be attributed to the fact that Roger Federer has been out due to an injury for a long time and the ATP has decided to strip off any ranking points from the upcoming Wimbledon. It is only a matter of time before age catches up with them and we witness an end of a glorious era.
