Chris Bumstead is promptly known as the winner of four consecutive Mr. Olympia titles. The 28-year-old is the current IFBB Classic Physique Professional bodybuilder champion and is all set for the upcoming 2023 Mr. Olympia competition.
In an episode with Ryan Terry Talk, Chris Bumstead talked about his career, mental health, and inspiration for bodybuilding.
He said, “I got into bodybuilding from sports, but who got me into bodybuilding was my brother-in-law for sure. He started dating my sister when I was in like grade 12, and he noticed I was like kind of exceptionally jacked and had a weird passion for just lifting weights at a young age”.
Chris Bumstead’s brother-in-law was a big bodybuilder at that time who convinced him “Into doing a state, going on stage a year after I graduated high school“. When asked how old he was when he started, he replied, “My first show was when I was 19“.

He started lifting weights at 12 and had 100 gym membership. “I convinced myself I had to be strong to be good at football and basketball so I just had to go to the gym but I did not practice how to dribble or anything so I sucked at that,” he said.
Apart from his established career in bodybuilding, Cbum has a great online presence on social media platforms, including YouTube, where he has more than 3.39 million subscribers and shares videos of training, talks about nutrition, competition photos, and his lifestyle.
Chris Bumstead’s preparation for 2023 Mr. Olympia after his training coach changed
Up until the 2022 Mr. Olympia competition, Chris Bumstead was training under his brother-in-law, the open-division bodybuilder Iain Valliere. However, just a few months before the competition, it was revealed that Cbum would not be working with him anymore.

Chris Bumstead then partnered with the prominent bodybuilding coach Hany Rambod, with whom he put in great hard work to win the 2022 Olympia Classic Physique title despite having a torn bicep. Coming to his next goal, the 2023 Mr. Olympia competition, Cbum revealed that he has decreased the intake of PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs), which helped him push his limits during the training sessions.
This has been part of the preparation process for 2023 for Mr. Olympia and his coach, Rambod. The legendary bodybuilder has witnessed significant improvement in his muscle density. He also revealed that his coach, Rambod, doesn’t want him to exceed 265 lbs in the off-season. When he got his pro card, he weighed around 219 lbs and now weighs between 240 and 239 lbs.
