NBA fans might be interested to hear that the Boston Celtics roster for the upcoming 2023-2024 NBA season looks quite different from the team we have grown familiar with over the past few years. As many of us should be aware, the Celtics fell short of making the NBA Finals after an unexpected loss to the Miami Heat in the 2022-2023 Eastern Conference Finals.
Despite the fact that they were the defending conference champions and clear-cut favorites to make the NBA Finals once again, Boston ended up going down 3-0 to the Heat. Although they managed to rally back and win three straight games in a row, the Celtics ended up losing in 7 games to the Miami Heat.
Since the team has a young talented duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, they have been quite active this NBA offseason and attempted to surround their young stars with the adequate talent required to win a title. Celtics fans will undoubtedly want to know what their team’s roster will look like next season. Therefore, we should take a better look and find out more.
Jrue Holiday is expected to be the starting point guard for the Boston Celtics
One of the first moves that the Celtics made this offseason was trading away their star point guard Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies. Up until this point, Celtics fans were quite concerned regarding which player their team would be able to find in order to replace Smart.
Although Boston was involved in trade discussions for Damian Lillard, they were unable to seal the deal as the Bucks ended up acquiring him. In return, Milwaukee sent Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team deal. Within a few days of this trade going on, the Blazers have turned around and traded Holiday once again to the Boston Celtics in return for Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, and future draft picks. Now, the Boston Celtics’ complete roster could look like this for next season.
