Undisputed Lightweight Champion, Katie Taylor just beat Amanda Serrano in an exhilarating fight. She won the contest via split decision. But it did not please Jake Paul who claimed, Eddie Hearn told him that the fight was a draw.
While facing the press after the historic fight, Jake had some bold statements to make. He sat with the co-promoter Eddie Hearn during the proceedings. According to the 25-year-old, Eddie expressed that the fight was even (5-5) after the 10 rounds. Not just Katie Taylor’s promoter, even her coaches and staff had the same feeling as well. The Problem Child said,
“I don’t even wanna talk about my opinion. Obviously, I think it was at least a draw. But what I’ll say publicly is, Eddie and I were sitting there at the end of the fight like, ‘that’s probably a draw,’ and then I’m in the ring before the decision gets announced and Katie’s manager/trainer that was in the corner, comes up to me and says ‘that’s a draw.'”

After 10 rounds of furious battle, it was Katie Taylor who got her hand raised. She won the bout with the help of a split decision. Taylor had two scorecards in her favour (97-93 and 96-93) and Serrano had one (94-96). Jake Paul later slammed the judgement and called the verdict a ‘robbery’.
Eddie Hearn exposes Jake Paul
Eddie Hearn arrived at the press conference alongside Katie Taylor and her team after Paul left. Hence, the reporters asked Hearn about Jake’s comments regarding the judgement of the fight. The 42-year-old called out Jake Paul for misrepresenting his quotes during their conversation.
“No, I said to him after 8 rounds that it could be 4-4.” He explained that the fight was a very close one. But the possibility of a draw was still there as one judge had it 6 rounds to 4 for Katie. Speaking on Jake, Eddie Hearn said,
“Jake also said that it was a robbery on social media, and he didn’t know who had won the fight when he got in the ring. So, I mean sometimes he doesn’t know where he is, to be honest with you.”
But Hearn also did not forget to thank Jake Paul’s management company, ‘Most Valuable Promotions’ for their tireless effort to make the fight feel as big as possible. Aside from the results and controversy following it, the event was a monumental success. Two women fought in the main event of a Madison Square Garden show! Women’s boxing never felt bigger and hopefully, it will result in more revenue for the sport.
Amanda Serrano previously detailed the struggles that she had to go through before aligning herself with Jake Paul. Hence, events like this will go a long way toward providing the female boxers with the payday they deserve.
