A highly anticipated matchup between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia is finally on its way. Undefeated young lions ‘Tank’ and ‘King Ry‘ will battle it out at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Initially the bout was scheduled for April 15, however, due to certain negotiations, it got pushed to a week later.
The duo will lock horns in an attempt to hand their opponent their first loss, all whilst in their prime. There has been long-simmering bad blood the two have shared throughout the years, making it known online and in person. Thus, fans consider this a highly touted bout in recent boxing history.

Fans have seen Davis and Ryan go at it on Twitter on numerous occasions. However, they didn’t stop just there. Garcia and Davis nearly came to blows inside a nightclub last year in September. The two will be putting their undefeated records on the line on April 22.
As per ESPN, coming to terms with the broadcast agreement between DAZN and Showtime was the only thing that was left. The upcoming boxing night features a total of 5 bouts, with all of them to be broadcasted on Showtime PPV.
‘Tank‘ has achieved a secondary championship at super lightweight whereas Ryan has recently jumped up a weight class. Thus, the two will lock horns in a 136 lb catchweight bout, just one pound over the lightweight cap. It is worth mentioning that Davis’ title isn’t on the line and a rehydration clause for the bout has also been revealed.

The organizers haven’t made any purse information public yet. However, as per reports, the main event bout is enumerated at around $7 million, which means it will only be split between the African-American and Ryan Garcia. ‘Tank’ holds an undefeated record of 28 wins, out of which he won 26 via KO.
In early January, Davis defended his WBA lightweight belt against Hector Luis Garcia. The contest earned him $1.5 million, along with a 60% cut from the PPV pie. Consequently, he took home $4 million that night.

The controversial 28-year-old is set to bag $5 million from his upcoming battle with Ryan. Additionally, he will also have 50% ownership of the pay-per-view sales, helping him reach approximately $10 million dollars come fight night.
On the other hand, Garcia has an undefeated record of 23 wins, 19 of which have come by way of knockouts. In his last fight against Javier Fortuna, the 24-year-old earned $1 million along with 60% PPV shares. Garcia took home a total of $3.5 million that night.
For the upcoming Davis fight, the ‘King Ry’ is set to receive a base purse of $2.5 million along with the rest of the 50% portion of PPV sales. As a result, his income for the night is expected to reach around $5 million, considering the magnitude of the fight.
