Terence will eye for a victory to improve his record to 40-0 and secure a lasting legacy in boxing after being shot in the head 15 years ago.
On a September night in 2008, Crawford had already won a professional fight and went up to 4-0. He was hanging out with his friends and was playing shooting dice under street lights. He got shot in the head when he was about to leave.
Terence Crawford was not the intended target of the shooter
As he sat in his car and counted the earnings he made, he heard a gunshot. Before he could react he got hit by a bullet on the right side of his head between his ear and neck. The bullet didn’t lodge in his head but had done a lot of damage, leaving him with a deep wound and lots of blood.
After being hit Crawford managed to drive himself to a nearby hospital. He got stitched up after waiting for almost 5 hours at the hospital.
On investigating police found out that the perpetrator’s target was not Terence. It was another person with whom he was playing on the street. Doctors told Terence that because of the rear windscreen, the bullet didn’t get lodged in his head.
Luckily, since his injuries were not that severe, Crawford bounced back up quickly. Two months after the incident with a lot of hard work, Crawford stepped into the ring. In November 2022, he fought against Michael Williams in his fifth professional fight and secured a win via KO.
Going into the fight against Spence, boxing fans believe this is an interesting matchup. As both fighters have a clean slate and desire to face the best in their respective divisions. However, Terence is the favorite amongst the people because of the performances shown by him in the past.
