Jermell Charlo just made history! Charlo took on Brian Castano with all four belts on the line. They previously crossed paths back in July of last year. It was an absolute slugfest which saw the fight end on a majority draw. Hence, this was Charlo’s second chance to assert his dominance and become the first-ever undisputed Light-Middleweight champion of the modern era.
The 31-year-old did it in style! Many fans expected an upset in the rematch as they picked Castano to get the win. In the middle rounds, it certainly looked as if Brian had a chance to pull it off. However, Charlo once again proved his doubters wrong as he knocked Brian out in the 10th round.

With that, Jermell has joined an elite list of fighters. There are very few fighters who become the undisputed champions in the era of four belts. But the win against Castano has made him one of the rare fighters who have held all four belts. Jermell already had the WBA, WBC, IBF and The Ring Magazine middleweight championships. By defeating Brian Castano, he now has his hands on the 154lbs WBO belt as well.

Canelo Alvarez previously became the undisputed Super Middleweight champion in November of last year. He defeated Caleb Plant to win all four belts in the 168lbs division. Oleksandr Usyk is another fighter who achieved the feat in the cruiserweight division in 2018. He beat Murat Gassiev to capture all four belts in the division.

The rematch between Jermell Charlo and Brian Castano was one for the ages! They both sensed the weight of the moment and gave it their all. But the first couple of rounds were a bit slow compared to the rest of the fight. Things started heating up around the third and fourth rounds. After an unorganized start to the fight from Charlo, he started putting his combinations together from the third round onwards.
The fast and furious nature of the contest meant someone was getting knocked out in a brutal manner. They both looked really good up till the finishing sequence of the fight. Ultimately, it was Charlo who managed to show his grit as he caught Castano with some well-timed shots and ultimately knocked him out in round 10.
With that, Charlo named his name in the history books as he became only the seventh fighter to become an undisputed champion in the four-belt era. But it was the first time that someone accomplished the feat in the light-middleweight division.
