A sports event without any drama isn’t a proper sports event. This time, NBA player Stephen Jackson was caught in the midst of a verbal scuffle following the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo fight. On one side, the legendary boxer put on an epic show capturing a victory against Charlo convincingly. The scorecards were in his favor as he managed to retain his Super Middleton title.
After the fight ended, the crowds were scattering away from the stands while Stephen Jackson and his group were exiting T.Mobile Arena. At one point, Jackson and his clan were stopped to let Canelo’s family and friends out. After waiting for a while, Jackson was clearly frustrated, presumably because he had to leave in a hurry. He intervened the Alvarez clan and made way for his people to exit.

The video went viral on social media and the former NBA star received a lot of backlash for being rude. One fan in the video was heard saying, “Let the champ’s family go first.” Jackson, who wasn’t having any of it said, “We can go too. Why we gotta wait?” He was seen yelling at a security guard after letting his family and friends pass through. He said, “We’re not waiting. Now, we’re not waiting!” While many people slammed him and few people understood his point of view.
Stephen Jackson revealed the truth behind the scuffle following the Alvarez vs. Charlo fight
Stephen Jackson is known for being a little outspoken and he usually doesn’t hesitate to confront people. The people who justified his actions understood that Jackson could been let to walk through along with the Alvarez family. However, that wasn’t the case. The former athlete addressed the situation via social media claiming that he did what he had to do out of respect. But he did not agree to wait for 70 people to pass through before he was allowed to leave.
He said, “Bet you the security won’t touch me no more… The first security guy came and was like, ‘How are you doing Mr. Jackson? Can you let Canelo’s family through?’ Yeah, of course, me and my people stood to the side and 30 people passed by.” He added, “And this one guy wanted to grab me ’cause I’m trying to get by, I waited for 30 people… If he’s got 40 more people that are family, I don’t have to wait. I was respectful enough to let 30 people. I gotta get out of there too.”

“I’m not finna sit there and let 70 pass because you want them to pass… we all got somewhere to go. Bet you won’t put your hands on nobody no more,” he concluded. At the end of the day, there are always two sides to a story and Stephen Jackson had a fair explanation for the situation.
