Floyd Mayweather is arguably the greatest boxer of this era. The undefeated former champion has been touring around the world showcasing his boxing skills via exhibition fights. Since retiring from the sport, ‘Money’ has famously taken on MMA fighters and YouTubers. And tonight, he fought the grandson of an alleged New York gangster.
Mayweather brought his exhibition tour back to the United States for the first time since his infamous match with Logan Paul in 2021. The legendary 50-0 boxer faced John Gotti III in Sunrise, Florida. To the latter’s credit, John has boxed professionally twice now, including one knockout. He weighed in at a massive 181 lbs earlier.

Before the fight, Floyd opted not to tip the scales publicly. Instead, he chose to pose and discuss his charitable endeavors on stage the day before. However, come fight night, all hell broke loose upon the conclusion of their exhibition match.
In terms of the fight, Mayweather started strong. He seemed visibly irritated by a minor fracas with John at the weigh-ins. Without giving himself much room to breathe, Floyd started blasting his rival with powerful shots. One such shot almost saw the fight stop at one point.
Midway through round 6 of 8, Floyd continued to rain down pressure on Gotti III. However, referee Kenny Bayless disqualified John for repeatedly grabbing the undefeated boxer. Needless to say, the decision fired up Gotti. An annoyed John lashed out at Floyd with a series of punches after shoving the referee aside.

Both Mayweather and John rolled deep with their entourage, who rushed the ring and created a chaotic scene. Fans witnessed each combatant shoved seemingly every which way amidst the chaos. The swarming team members led to a now-viral melee that saw numerous fights break out throughout the crowd and even backstage.
The extent of the injuries sustained is unknown at this time. Floyd appeared unbothered by the carnage, unlike his opponent, whose father, John II, appeared backstage shortly after the incident. Reports suggest a number of fighters and musicians were caught being a part of the action. Fortunately, the police cleared out the arena and threatened charges against anyone who chose not to leave immediately.

Prior to the stoppage, Floyd played to the FLA Live Arena crowd as he taunted and showboated his way throughout the first 5 rounds. Floyd Mayweather, 46, hasn’t competed in a professional bout since locking horns with Conor McGregor in August 2017. Despite the unfortunate ending, Floyd pocketed another exhibition win tonight, this one being his 7th such fight.
