Not many people would have known who Andrew Tate was prior to 2022. However, his popularity exploded in the latter half of last year. He was linked to fighting Jake Paul and it made the world wonder who Top G really was. However, the interest was just not limited to combat sports fans, as Tate quickly became one of the most searched celebrities on the internet.
Hence, to answer all the questions, VICE made a documentary on Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate. Both Tate brothers are former kickboxing champions and they’ve built an empire for themselves through their status as social media influencers. However, Andrew also ran businesses like Hustler’s University, which bumped up his net worth to $350 million. Although Andrew was initially in favor of the documentary, Tristan Tate wasn’t.
In a recently surfaced video, Tristan could be seen warning his elder brother against the endeavor. While he did not disrespect the journalist, Matt Shea, present inside the room, Tristan definitely smelled something wrong. He thought the outlet was going to make a “hit piece.” He made the comments during one of the episodes of the Emergency Meeting podcast.
He added, “Andrew invited his mate on our show without my consent. I’m just gonna have to bite my and listen to you guys talk most of this emergency meeting. Otherwise, I’m gonna walk off… This is definitely a hit piece, I’ve warned my brother that this is a setup. This is gonna be the worst documentary about us.” (h/t via B&A Motivation)
VICE sold the documentary later to BBC and it premiered in February 2023. Tate’s fans were furious with it as they alleged that the documentary showed Andrew in a bad light. Although he is currently in jail, it seemed like Andrew himself sensed the tone of the documentary and pointed it out to the journalist.
When will Andrew Tate be released?
Andrew Tate was arrested on December 29 last year and put in detention. Since then, Tate has spent over 50 days in detention and it does not look like his incarceration is about to end anytime soon. As Tate fans know, his detention has been extended twice already.
Ahead of his February 21st court hearing, Tate was close to completing 60 days of detention. But following the most recent hearing, Tate’s detention increased by another 30 days.

It means Tate is going to spend his time in jail till the end of March. However, Andrew is not too disheartened by the news. The 4-time kickboxing champion thinks his lawyers have done a great job so far and he may get released soon. Although Eugen Vidineac, Tate’s lawyer, is hopeful of bailing the Tate brothers out, they have to remain in detention until the next hearing.
However, that has not been enough to keep Tate fans happy. Recently, the Romanian court released Georgiana Naghel and Luana Radu from prison. However, they will still have to remain under house arrest. But unfortunately both Andrew and Tristan will remain in prison. Tate recently described his prison as an “animal house.” So it does look as if Tate has been stripped of his usual luxuries.
