A huge portion of the internet erupted when Romanian officials released the controversial internet personality Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan from prison. Officials detained the duo in late December last year on alleged ties to a human trafficking and rape case. Fortunately for Tate fans and supporters, the 36-year-old won an appeal to replace his detention with a house arrest.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal threw a green signal to Tate’s appeal, which challenged the prosecutor’s decision to extend his prison stay for 30 more days. Romanian authorities had arrested two women along with the Tate brothers in the capital of Romania. As per Ramona Bolla, a spokesperson for Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, all four won an appeal on March 31st.
Bolla shared that the prosecutors can’t oppose the court’s appeal, which was marked final on Friday. This decision has led to all four of them remaining under house arrest until April 29.

While the release shouldn’t be mistaken for Tate’s acquittal, it does ease the 36-year-old’s daily living conditions. As per the house arrest, Andrew won’t be allowed to leave his residence, unless a medical emergency arrives. The court has ordered the 4-time kickboxing champion to stay confined within the boundaries of his home in Romania.
Mateea Petrescu serves as the communication director for ‘Top G‘. She spoke to the news right after the duo’s release and claimed that the Tates are not a risk to the public. She further explained that the brothers don’t pose a flight risk, thus the authorities’ decision to place the pair under house arrest.
Is Andrew Tate completely out of trouble?
With the house arrest in immediate effect, both brothers can look forward to being reunited with their loved ones in Romania. Despite their release from prison, Andrew and Tristan still have a long way to go. The duo will continue to fight to clear their name from any wrongdoings. For the fans, house arrest is the first major step in things going in the right direction.
As per Legalmatch, Following a trial, a house arrest sentence can last anywhere from two weeks to twelve months. The extension of the house arrest depends on the crime that the offender is convicted of. In the Tate brothers’ case, human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group are three such crimes.
House arrestees are equipped with an electronic device that regularly monitors their movement. The device is usually placed around the ankle and uses GPS to track the arrestee’s location at all times. It is worth mentioning that the said device can also detect if it has been damaged, removed, or interfered with.
It is still unclear what happens next after the end of their house arrest duration. However, fans are at ease watching their self-help guru outside the bars. Whether the Tates receive an extension or settle for a different decision, critics will have to wait for the case to unfold.
