The last fans saw Anthony Joshua, he was at the center of the farcical events that took place after his loss to Oleksandr Usyk. The 33-year-old boxer was criticized by a lot of people as he began a bizarre rant after Usyk dominated him during their fight. The former 2-time world heavyweight champion last won a fight when he knocked out Kubrat Pulev in December 2020.
However, the British boxer seems to have recovered from these setbacks. On his Instagram page, Anthony Joshua announced on social media that his comeback fight had been decided. Joshua confirmed that he will fight American boxer Jermaine Franklin at the O2 Arena in London. Joshua’s tweet included the poster for the fight and the caption read, “A New Dawn 🌅.”

Anthony Joshua returns to action against Jermaine Franklin
Anthony Joshua’s opponent on April 1, Jermaine Franklin is ranked #29 in the world and #5 in the U.S.A. Franklin’s last fight was a losing effort against British boxer Dillian Whyte who won via a majority decision. Whyte previously lost to AJ back in December 2015. However, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn dismissed the notion that Franklin would be an easy fight.
Hearn said, “It’s a really tough fight with loads of pressure to come back because if AJ doesn’t win this fight, then we’ve got a major problem. I believe you’ll see a statement from a guy who is very dangerous, very motivated to become a three-time heavyweight world champion.” If Hearn is to be believed, Anthony Joshua is raring to go and prove his detractors wrong by putting on a dominant performance against the American boxer.
Joshua, who changed his trainer recently, said, “I am looking forward to stepping back into the ring on April 1st at The O2 London. Mentally and physically I feel ready. I want to put on a show and impress my coach as he has high standards.”
After the debacle at the Usyk fight, many people thought AJ was finished mentally. However, his recent statements and the announcement of his comeback fight fly in the face of that notion. However, the world will find out on April 1 whether Anthony Joshua really has what it takes to bounce back from the worst loss of his career.
