Caleb Plant recently opened up about the incident involving Jermall Charlo at the Spence vs. Crawford boxing match weigh-ins. In a video that went viral, the former IBF super middleweight champion was seen delivering a precise left hook to the WBC middleweight champion.
Following the weigh-ins for the Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr. fight, a heated confrontation unfolded between Jermall Charlo and Caleb Plant. In a video that emerged, Plant delivered a powerful punch to Charlo’s face. The impact of the punch was quite loud, with the sound clearly audible in the video.
Charlo refrained from responding with violence, and it was Plant who was subsequently removed from the scene by others present at the location. “Don’t you ever grab me by my motherf*cking face again like that, boy”, Plant exclaimed on his way out.
Caleb Plant: “There were a lot of Texas dudes around when I done it(smacked Jermall), but I’d rather get beat up by every Texas guy in the building than have to go home and look at my wife and be like ‘I will protect us’..she’ll probably believe it, but am I going to believe it?… pic.twitter.com/xHg3tNTRZG

The friction between Plant and Charlo stems from their contentious exchanges on social media the previous year. During a recent interview, Caleb Plant provided an explanation for his actions. He asserted that Charlo had provoked the situation by repeatedly invading his personal space, despite receiving warnings not to do so.
“There were a lot of Texas dudes around when I did it (smacked Jermall), but I’d rather get beat up by every Texas guy in the building than have to go home and look at my wife and be like, ‘I will protect us. She’ll probably believe it, but am I going to believe it? You can’t have someone chastising you like that, said Caleb Plant.
Jermall Charlo, boasting an impressive undefeated record of 32-0, currently holds the title of WBC middleweight champion.
Caleb Plant hints at an imminent Canelo Alvarez rematch
The former IBF super middleweight champion, Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant, has dropped hints that discussions are advancing toward an eagerly awaited rematch with Canelo Alvarez. In a recent I AM ATHLETE interview, Plant expressed his aspiration to go head-to-head with one of the greatest boxers of the current era, Canelo Alvarez.
“I’m pretty close to having a rematch,” said Plant. He also spoke about how Canelo’s style of fighting has changed over the years but refrained from going into details as he believes that one should not correct their enemies.
However, it seems like Plant will have to wait for his match-up against the Mexican boxer, as Canelo Alvarez is presently scheduled to make his comeback to the boxing ring against Jermell Charlo on September 30. The exciting bout is set to occur at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
