“Creed 3” is the third entry into the Rocky spinoff franchise, starring Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors. The film opened to a whopping $58.7 million in North America in its first weekend. The film became the highest-grossing opening weekend for any Rocky/Creed movie. Although the film has gotten rave reviews from critics, all does not seem to be going well for one of its stars.
Jonathan Majors, one of the biggest reasons behind the success of the first film, has reportedly been arrested. According to a report from TMZ, Majors was arrested on Saturday with the charges of assault. Aside from the Creed movie, Jonathan has also appeared as the character “Kang” in the recently released, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” With so many blockbusters in his resume, the recent news regarding Majors seems concerning.
However, a representative for Jonathan Majors has put out a statement in his defense. Speaking to TMZ, they added, “He’s done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.” So what happened to Majors and why was he arrested? Let’s find out.
Jonathan Majors allegedly attacked his girlfriend in a cab
The gossip site TMZ was the first outlet to break the news. Their initial report added the alleged victim was a woman. She has reportedly also suffered lacerations and bruises from the incident. However, fans wanted to know who the woman really was and why did Jonathan Majors allegedly assault her? Upon further clarifications from TMZ, it looks like the woman in question was Majors’ girlfriend.
While there is not much information about his girlfriend, there was reportedly a confrontation between Majors and the woman. According to the report, Jonathan Majors received a message from some other woman on his phone. It allegedly irked his girlfriend, who wanted to know the identity of the sender. However, Jonathan reportedly denied to let his girlfriend have a look at his phone.
Things became heated between the two in a cab in New York and it allegedly resulted in Majors slapping his girlfriend. Not just that, he allegedly held her neck during the incident as well. As a result, the police have booked Jonathan for the charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment. The incident allegedly took place on Friday night and the victim went to the police the following morning on Saturday.
As of now, there has been no reaction from his Creed 3 co-star Michael B. Jordan. With him playing the pivotal Marvel character “Kang,” it will interesting to see what Marvel Studio’s stance on the matter is as well. Will they perhaps recast the role amid the allegations? Only time will tell.
