Hearn claimed Ngannou outsizes Joshua. In an interview during The MMA Hour, Hearn said, “Two giants will meet in the ring in Riyadh. When you say giants, this is the first time AJ’s fought an opponent that outsizes him. This guy is huge.”
Joshua will face Ngannou in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on March 8, 2024. The Kindom Arena in Riyadh has hosted both heavyweight’s previous fights. However, Hearn believes there is something different in this fight. He claimed Ngannou is a real threat.
“I turned to him at the press conference and started talking to him and then I turned to AJ, it was like a cruiserweight, you know, and a heavyweight. So, this is a real threat and when those two come together press conference weigh-in and in the ring in Riyadh this is two this is Godzilla and King Kong. This is like two ginormous men and anything could happen in this fight,” said Hearn.
However, the chairman of Matchroom Sport was confident that Joshua would win via knockout. He claimed that it might happen that one big punch will not be enough for Ngannou but a systematic breakdown would be needed. Hearn was in no way shy to admit that he was nervous for the fight.
Eddie Hearn believes Anthony Joshua will become the undisputed heavyweight champion
Hearn also revealed the plan for Joshua’s future. He claimed that the roadmap ahead involves a fight between the winner of Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury vs. Usyk was supposed to take place for the undisputed heavyweight championship on 17 February 2024. However, due to Fury’s injury, the bout has been postponed to May 18, 2024. According to Hearn, Turki Al-Sheikh informed him that the winner of Joshua vs. Ngannou will face the winner of Fury vs. Usyk for the title.

Hearn was quick to admit that he was confident of Joshua’s winning chances. Hearn said, “When Turki Al-Sheikh, his excellency, says the winner of this fight will go on and fight for undisputed against the winner of Fury Usyk. That to us is a dream chance… I believe AJ is going to beat Francis and then he’s going to beat the winner of Fury Usyk and he’s going to become undisputed heavyweight world champion.”
This will be Ngannou’s second boxing bout after his first outing came in October 2023. The Cameroonian-French athlete faced Tyson Fury and gave him a run for his money. The British boxer claimed a decision victory, controversially. Fans are excited to see if Ngannou can continue his dominance in the boxing ring against another extraordinary heavyweight opponent.
