The WBA lightweight champion is currently awaiting a bail hearing. According to a report from Boxing Scene, the incident allegedly took place at a party. However, the report does not specify the details of the alleged domestic violence. This is a very significant development, considering the fact that Davis has a huge fight coming up in a matter of days.

He will defend his lightweight title against Hector Luis Garcia on January 7th, 2023. The fight is currently scheduled to take place inside the Capital Arena in Washington. However, everything will depend on what happens in his upcoming bail hearing. But, as of now, there is no bond for his release.
Gervonta Davis was arrested for domestic violence in 2020
Gervonta Davis has been in trouble with the law previously as well. In February 2020, he was apprehended for assaulting his ex-girlfriend on camera. In a viral footage, Davis was seen grabbing the woman by her throat during a basketball game and escorting her out of the arena.
On that particular occasion, The Tank faced two misdemeanor battery charges. However, the charges were dropped earlier on December 13th. But, that was not the only legal trouble he had hanging over his shoulders. In November 2020, there was also a hit-and-run case in which he was involved. Tank allegedly fled the scene after a collision with vehicles and it also had a pregnant woman in one of the vehicles.
The 28-year-old will appear in the court for a hearing on Fer 16th for this particular case. However, that hearing does not relate to his latest arrest. If he is granted bail on the second domestic violence charge against him in the space of two years, Davis’ next fight will go on as scheduled.
Davis currently holds a boxing record of 27-0, with 25 spectacular knockouts. In May earlier this year, He knocked out Rolando Romero in the 6th round to retain his WBA lightweight title. After his upcoming bout against Hector Luis Garcia, there is an agreement for him to face Ryan Garcia next. The fight is scheduled for April 2023 and it depends on Davis’ legal troubles and the result of his next fight.
