Five-time world champion Gervonta Davis took on Rolando Romero in a twelve round bout in Brooklyn, New York. Tank’s WBA regular lightweight title and his undefeated record were on the line in his highly anticipated fight.
It is needless to say that everyone was expecting the 27-year-old lightweight champion to be aggressive from the get-go and land a substantial amount of strikes. Surprisingly, Gervonta landed only 25 punches in six rounds against Romero.

This stat was quite shocking considering Gervonta’s standards as he usually lets his hands go and lands a huge output of strikes. Interestingly, both lightweights approached the fight cautiously and didn’t land a significant amount of punches.

However, in the end, Tank got the job done as he brutally finished Romero with a vicious counter left hand in the sixth round to defend his title and extend his undefeated record to 27-0.
What’s next for Gervonta Davis after his KO win over Rolando Romero?
Despite starting slowly, Gervonta Davis made amends later in the sixth round by finishing Rolando Romero and grabbing his 25th KO win. Subsequently, in the post-fight interview, he was questioned about what would he like to do next.
Tank responded by saying “I’m in baby, I’m in, whatever one they want to do, there’s no safety on the block.” Thereafter his rival Ryan Garcia who was present in the arena took to Twitter and called Davis out for a fight in December.
Besides, Garcia, during the build up of his fight against Romero, Gervonta had expressed in one of the podcasts about his interest to face Devin Haney for the undisputed titles if he beats George Kambosos in his upcoming fight. With Davis becoming a free agent and open to fighting any big star, we might finally see Davis vs Garcia happening this year.
