Oleksandr Usyk is currently the WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight champion of the world. He is expecting to fight Anthony Joshua next for his first title defense.
However, what’s interesting is Usyk who is well known for his presence inside the boxing ring was seen inside a football ground. He debuted as a professional player for the Ukrainian second division team FC Polissya Zhytomyr against NK Veres Rivne in a friendly match.
The boxing champion entered the field in the 76th min of the game. However, he missed a chance to score within the first minute of his presence inside the field. Usyk played till the end from the 76th minute of the game. His team FC Polissya Zhytomyr managed a victory against NK Veres Rivne with a score of 2-1.
The club’s director commented on Usyk’s inclusion on the squad to the Times Hub: “If Usyk strengthens our team, we will offer a professional contract, if not, we will just give him a chance to try his hand at football…What will Usyk’s participation in the tournament look like? These moments are kept secret. Watch the tournament and you will see everything.” He said.
For once Uysk’s footwork lets him down.. ⚽️
Oleksandr Usyk came on as a substitute for Ukrainian second division side, FC Polissya, in a friendly game.
He missed a sitter straightaway..

Needless to say, Usyk’s main sport is boxing. So, his inclusion as a permanent player in the club is highly unlikely. Nevertheless, it is quite exciting to see Usyk trying his best to play another sport as well.
Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua in May 2022:
After several attempts at talks for the highly anticipated bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk came to a dead end, he is waiting for the first title defense against Joshua this May (probably).
While Usyk is enjoying his time playing football, Joshua is fully focused on winning back his titles from Usyk. Both fighters met each other last September. The Ukrainian got the better of Joshua and Anthony lost all four titles.
Joshua has now split up from his former coach Rob McCracken after the defeat against Usyk. Consequently, he is set to train with a new trainer. It will be interesting to see if that will help Joshua enough to win or Usyk will be able to defend his title to
