“I Don’t Know Why There Is a Big Thing About My Weight” – Anthony Joshua Steps in Lighter for Oleksandr Usyk Fight

The much-anticipated boxing fight between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk will take place tomorrow at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in London. In this main event clash, AJ’s IBF, WBO, and WBA heavyweight belts will be on the line against the former undisputed cruiserweight champion.

Therefore fight fans are very excited to watch this epic battle between two great superstars tomorrow. As we are heading closer to the fight, both the fighters engaged in an intense staredown after showing their top-notch physique for this bout.

Taking a look at the weigh-ins, Anthony Joshua weighed a solid 240 lbs for the 12 round contest. On the other hand, Oleksandr Usyk weighed in at 221.25 lbs. As a result, the Ukrainian fighter will step inside the ring at his heaviest weight against the British boxer.

Despite this fact, Joshua has a significant physical advantage in terms of weight. Hence this could play a major factor in the outcome of this matchup. Earlier as per reports, Anthony Joshua was expected to weigh lighter for this boxing match against Usyk to cope with his speed and durability.

However, the British fighter put all rumours to bed as he stepped on the scale and weighed in at his usual weight. Comment below if you think that Anthony Joshua should have weighed less for this fight against Oleksandr Usyk.

Anthony Joshua claims that he does not watch his weight and reveals that he will easily fight for the entire 12 rounds

After the end of the weigh-ins of the Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk boxing event. Sky sports discussed with the WBA heavyweight champion regarding his weight for this bout. He gave his insights regarding this matter while expressing that he does not understand the fuss behind his weight.

Anthony Joshua

“I don’t really watch my weight. I don’t know why there is a big thing about weight. Maybe because we are heavyweights so people look at us at our heaviest. I have been there – I was 254 lbs at one stage [for the Carlos Takam fight]. But I still managed to throw a lot of combos and go 10 rounds.

“Now I should be able to do the 12 rounds easily because weight does make a difference. As long as you are loose, nimble. Loose and heavy, relaxed shots. I should be good. I was heavier and doing it so, now that I’m lighter, I should be able to do it with more ease.”

Both the fighters are extremely confident about their chances in this bout. Regardless of the result, fans can expect a terrific display by Joshua and Usyk in the main event. Comment below your predictions for this heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk that will begin tomorrow.
