The return to boxing for Amir Khan did not go as planned. After an absence of three years, Khan returned to the ring to take on a bitter enemy in Kell Brook. Fans had a lot of expectations from the fight. Although both fighters are past their prime, the contest promised violence.
It did disappoint whatsoever. The bout ended via a referee stoppage in the sixth round. However, Amir Khan was the wrong end of it. Kell Brook made his intentions clear from the first round itself as he hurt Khan right away. But Amir did recover to some extent.
But Kell Brook did not take his foot off the gas. He hurt Khan in both second and third rounds. Although Amir had good hand speed and great jabs, he faded towards the end of each round. And Brook found a way through his fellow countryman’s defence.

Khan had his best round in the fourth. He kept Brook away with his jabs and managed to dodge all the shots. Kell primarily aimed all of his offence towards the head of Khan instead of diversifying the shots. But it did not matter in the end as Brook’s volume was too much for Khan and the referee decided to end the fight in the sixth.
Amir Khan has hinted that he may now retire following his defeat to Kell Brook: “I need to sit down with my family. That love for the sport is not there anymore like it was before. I felt quite flat, I think that’s maybe a sign I should be calling it a day, but let’s see.”
