Francis Ngannou is all set to make his boxing debut. Following a long back and forth and repeated contract talks, Francis has finally got his fight against Tyson Fury. However, ahead of the fight, Ngannou has some serious suspicions about his opponent.
Previously, Ngannou signed on with the PFL after failed negotiations with the UFC and other promotions. Despite the agreement with PFL, there was no news as to who he would fight next. After a long round of negotiations, it was decided that Francis would be making his first ring walk against Tyson Fury. Whilst the two had verbally agreed on a fight, things were finally official.
Surprisingly, ‘The Predator’ believes that Fury might cheat in their upcoming fight. Speaking to Joe Rogan, he says, “He’s very tricky with his glove. I think he’s cheating. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about his gloves, that his gloves have no protection.” Here, Ngannou outright revealed that he thinks Fury will try something below the belt for the fight.
Moreover, the former UFC heavyweight champion reveals that he has been warned about Tyson’s tendency to cheat in the past. According to some of Fury’s previous opponents, the heavyweight champion allegedly tampers with his gloves ahead of the fight, which makes them appear ‘floppy’ at times. Notably, they have accused his gloves of being lighter than they should be as well.
How does Francis Ngannou intend to deal with Tyson Fury’s ‘floppy gloves’?
With such serious accusations against his opponent in the past, Ngannou intends to leave no stone unturned in his preparation. According to Francis, Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora have both complained about Tyson’s gloves in the past. Moreover, upon further inspection, fans online have also pointed out some irregularities with the British boxer‘s gloves.
Previously, in the aftermath of Fury-Wilder 1, many pointed out that Tyson’s fist was out of place in his glove, allowing him to essentially throw a bare fist from a certain angle. Due to this, the top of Fury’s gloves appears to be empty or floppy, as his fist is actually near the lace part of the glove. Notably, Fury has been made to re-glove prior to his fight with Christian Hammer in 2015 due to suspicions of the same.

Whilst Joe Rogan has refuted these claims, stating Fury’s distinct style to be the reason, Ngannou remains largely unconvinced. As such, the Cameroonian states, “We’re going to get there, and we need every glove to get checked. You don’t tell me about this, commission. All the gloves get to be checked.” Further, Francis has insisted that if Tyson intends to fight bare-knuckle, then they should have the fight advertised as so.
All things considered, it has added one more twist to the already spicy tale ahead of the fight. Titled ‘Battle of the Baddest’, Fury vs. Ngannou goes down on October 28, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Notably, the matchup is a fully professional, 10-round contest.
