Canelo Alvarez made a huge statement with a win over the former WBO super middleweight champion, Billy Joe Saunders. The British fighter was unbeaten with a record of 30-0 coming into the fight against Alvarez.

However, Canelo Alvarez solidified his position as the pound-for-pound number one boxer in the world right now with a brilliant win over Saunders.

The fight was getting exciting by the end of round 7 as it seemed Billy Joe Saunders was finding his rhythm. He was being the more active boxer between the two in the round 6 and 7. However, as Alvarez predicted before the fight he put on a masterclass in round 8 and caused some serious damage to Saunders, and picked up a TKO win.

After the win over Saunders, Canelo Alvarez made it clear that he wants to become the unified super middleweight champion by beating Caleb Plant. However, the former WBO super middleweight champion, Demetrius Andrade did not seem too happy about it as he confronted Alvarez during the post-fight press conference.

Canelo Alvarez shut down Demetrius Andrade and said: “You fight with nobody. Get the f** outta where. F*** you. Get the f** outta here because I’m gonna f*** you up right now.”

Demetrius Andrade and his coach fired back at Alvarez which resulted in a heated altercation before Andrade was escorted out of the room.

Who should Canelo Alvarez fight next?

Demetrius Andrade last fought in Liam Williams back in April. He has been unbeaten in his career so far with 30 wins. However, we have seen time and time again that these records don’t matter when you go up against Canelo Alvarez.

He is the best boxer in the world at the moment and it would be hard to dispute the above-mentioned notion. Though a fight between Alvarez and Andrade does make sense in the future right now Alvarez vs Plant is the fight to make.

The Mexican sensation is one step away from unifying the super middleweight division titles and all he needs for that is one fight against Caleb Plant.
