Jake Paul is no longer an undefeated fighter! After many ups and downs, he finally came face to face with Tommy Fury inside the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia. With two high-profile celebrity boxers going at it, fans were promised fireworks. However, the end result was perhaps more shocking than anything else.
After 8 rounds of back and forth, Tommy Fury got the judges’ nod. However, it was not a unanimous decision as one judge gave the fight to Paul. While two judges had the fight 76-73 for Fury, one scored it 75-74 for Paul. But there is an asterisk behind the score, as the ref deducted a point from Jake for unsportsmanlike conduct in the ring.

After the fight, Jake Paul was understandably disappointed. Not only did he slam the judges, but Paul also wanted a rematch, which was a part of the contract. Is there a point behind Jake’s frustrations? Let’s take a look at the punching stats to see if Tommy Fury was the rightful winner or not.
Was Jake Paul robbed against Tommy Fury?
Jake Paul and Tommy Fury are both relatively new fighters. While Fury now has a boxing record of 9-0, Jake’s pro record stands at 6-1. Despite his utter disappointment, judging by the punching stats, it looks like the decision was ultimately right. According to COMPUBOX, Jake and Tommy landed 49 and 88 punches respectively. It means, Tommy nearly doubled what Jake landed.
But not just in terms of the end product, Tommy also outshined Jake in terms of his activity and fight IQ. Compared to Fury’s 302 attempted punches, Jake only attempted to land 152 punches. At times, “The Problem Child” was like a deer in the headlight. From perfectly using his jab for staying out of Jake’s range to closing the distance and landing some great power punches, Tommy nearly had the perfect performance.
