Andrew Tate finds himself in the middle of another beef once more. The former kickboxer, born in Washington, DC, has converted to Islam. However, that is not the subject of controversy. A British YouTuber, who goes by the name of The True Geordie, made some extremely insensitive comments about Tate’s decision to become a Muslim.
During a video on his channel, Geordie was answering a fan’s question on whether he would fight Andrew Tate or not. However, his response angered fans online. Real name Brian Davis, True Geordie made some derogatory comments about Tate which was seen as a dig towards the entire religion. He stated that he would, ‘blow himself over,’ to take out Tate as well.
Although his co-host in the show constantly reminded him that he should not make such comments, True Geordie doubled down on his statement and started laughing. His comments went viral and unsurprisingly, they did not sit well with people online. But, after facing a lot of backlashes, the UK-based YouTuber issued an apology.
The 35-year-old was in tears during his apology video. However, he maintained his animosity towards Andrew and called him a “potato head.” But, he apologized for his insensitive comments on religion.
True Geordie added, “Obviously, I don’t believe that’s what Muslims actually do and I don’t actually want Mr Potato head to die as much as I don’t really like him. It was a very stupid thing to say, it was an idiotic joke. One I’m sorry for. You know, I don’t believe any religious stereotypes to be clear.”
Fans do not think True Geordie’s apology to Andrew Tate was genuine
Combat sports fans are well aware of True Geordie. He is a celebrity YouTuber and he involves himself with combat sports quite a lot. However, in a recent interview, even heavyweight champion boxer Tyson Fury also had a bust-up with the internet personality. Tyson was clearly unhappy with True Geordie’s attitude and left the virtual interview on a sour note. It proves Geordie is not afraid of confrontations.
I made a very stupid comment last week on a livestream which has upset a lot of people.

However, his comments on Andrew Tate were not merely confrontational. Fans took his words as Islamophobic. Hence, the YouTuber had to apologize. But, fans do not think the apology was from his heart. In the comments section underneath the video, fans expressed their true feelings on the matter. They think it is a business move rather than a sincere apology.
User R Melv wrote, “This looks very much like an apology because of backlash and to keep sponsors happy, nothing more nothing less.” User CADAANKA ISKA ILAALI echoed the same sentiment as they wrote, “This isn’t a apologetic video, this is DAMAGE CONTROL.” User Chatting s’:t made their sentiments known very blatantly and wrote, “The fear of cancellation is strong with this one”.
True Geordie has over 2 million subscribers to his YouTube channel. So he has a big reach online. However, comments such as these are damning enough to warrant a ban. Andrew Tate himself is currently banned from all social media platforms for his ‘misogynistic’ comments. Recently UFC colour commentator Joe Rogan revealed his theory on Tate’s ban.
