Amanda Serrano is one of the biggest names in women’s boxing today. The undisputed women’s featherweight champion of the world, Serrano has had a long journey to the top. However, there was a point in her career when Serrano wanted to call it a day and retire.
For those unaware, boxing is not the most lucrative sport for the majority of fighters. Of course, there are the top 1% of fighters that get paid a king’s ransom every time they step into the ring. Unfortunately, Serrano, up until recently, was not in that top 1%. As such, it became very difficult for her to keep going.
In an interview with DAZN Boxing, Amanda revealed how she had thoughts of retiring. “Every other day, one day it was me, one day it was Jordan (trainer). There was no light at the end of the tunnel in this sport”. However, with Jake Paul’s help, things slowly began getting better for Serrano. “Now we’re finally seeing the fruits of our labor. We’re working hard, money is so much better, I’m getting paid a lot.”
According to Serrano, she was very close to hanging up the gloves only two years ago. However, working with Jake and Most Valuable Promotions has done wonders for her career. Now a ‘millionaire’, Amanda’s days of fighting for ‘chump change’ are well and truly behind her. having fought for numerous world titles in various weight divisions, Serrano finally believes that she is getting her dues.
Amanda Serrano’s boxing earnings before and after signing with Jake Paul
As mentioned previously, it was very difficult for Amanda and other fighters like Heather Hardy to promote and sell their fights. Thus, Hardy mentioned how despite 40,000 tickets sold, she only made $7000, that too for defending her world title. Similarly, Serrano had even payouts at times, which were even lower, reaching as low as $1500. However, as The Real Deal has revealed, things have only gone up since her partnership with Jake Paul.
As such, let’s take a look at some of Amanda’s payouts before and after signing with The Problem Child and Most Valuable Promotions. Fighting as a multiple divisional champions, Amanda Serrano was making way less than what many would expect. According to reports, Serrano’s total payouts from fights before becoming undisputed featherweight champ was between $25k-50k. Then, for her fight against Daniela Romina Bermúdez, she earned $150,000. However, for her first fight alongside Jake at Paul vs Woodley, Serrano beat Yamileth Mercado, earning $400,000 in the process.
Similarly, other sources reported that Serrano earned almost $1,000,000 ($1 million) for her fight against Katie Taylor in 2022. Additionally, Amanda’s payout for her last fight against Erika Cruz was rumored to be around the $350-400k mark. As for her upcoming rematch against Heather Hardy, Amanda will reportedly make somewhere around $350-400k once again. Thus, there is a stark contrast between Amanda’s payouts before and after signing with Jake Paul.
Having accompanied Serrano for her ring walk against Katie Taylor in 2022, Jake really showed how much he was willing to stand by the Puerto Rican boxer. With that said, Jake was also instrumental in bargaining the payouts for the historic fight between Taylor and Serrano. Thus, with their partnership bearing fruit, fans can rejoice knowing that Amanda Serrano will still be fighting for years to come.
