Former Real Madrid and Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo, was inside the Diriyah Arena! He was there to witness the celebrity boxing match between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury. The fight was almost 2 years in the making and it finally went down after several obstacles in the last couple of years.
Despite the delays, there was no shortage of excitement for the bout. Former heavyweight champions Deontay Wilder and Mike Tyson were also in attendance for the bout. But without a doubt, the most mainstream celebrity in the building was the Portuguese soccer legend. Ahead of the bout, Jake Paul confirmed that Ronaldo was going to be witnessing the bout in person.

It looks like CR7 kept his promise and showed up for the event alongside his eldest son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. However, he has some connection to the Fury clan that many fans may not know about. Fury, who currently resides in Manchester, England, is a big supporter of Ronaldo’s former club Manchester United. And, it appears that he had a quick shot at Ronaldo for leaving United late in 2022.
Tyson Fury takes a pop at Cristiano Ronaldo and praises Erik Ten Hag
Manchester United played Newcastle United in the final of the Carabao Cup 2023, also known as the EFL Cup. It was United’s chance to finally end their 6-year-long trophy drought. Being a Manchester United superfan, Fury posted a message and sent words of encouragement to the team. It looks like Tyson’s good wish did wonders for the team, as United won the game 2-0.
Brazilian star Casemiro opened the scoring for United and an own goal from Sven Botman doubled United’s lead. This was the first trophy for United under the new manager Erik Ten Hag. It made the WBC heavyweight champ take to Twitter and congratulate the coach. However, one can also interpret it as a shot at Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo’s exit from United was because of a dispute between him and Erik Ten Hag. Ronaldo publicly stated that he had no respect for the manager as Ten Hag apparently did not respect him. Hence, the club ultimately terminated his contract. Although Fury could have played it safe by not congratulating Ten Hag with Ronaldo in the same building, “The Gypsy King” did it anyway.
