Undisputed, the game formerly known as eSports Boxing Club (ESBC), has been stuck in development hell for a long time. The game was originally supposed to launch on early access in 2021. However, Steel City Interactive, the studio behind Undisputed found itself behind schedule, and subsequently, the game was delayed.
However, fans can rejoice as the game now has a release date. The game is slated to be available to players from 31st January. Undisputed is slated to release on Steam in early access. Boxing fans have been clamoring for a boxing sim. This has been the case ever since Electronic Arts (EA) stopped making the Fight Night series. From what Steel City Interactive has shown the fans, the game has impressive graphics and textures.
The game will have a very large roster. This roster will comprise several current boxers, as well as retired and legendary boxers. Some of the active boxers in the game include former champion Deontay Wilder, unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, George Kambosos Jr, Vasyl Lomachenko, and Canelo Alvarez, among others.
Other boxers include legendary names such as Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Floyd Patterson, and Rocky Marciano among others.
The game is set to have a stacked roster. Even popular figures from other sports that have competed in boxing such as Cris Cyborg are also on the roster. Fans cannot wait as the game’s release date in early access inches closer. However, something that will come as a disappointment to PC players, the game will only have controller support. Meaning, players will not be able to enjoy the game with a mouse and keyboard setup.
Will Undisputed be available on PlayStation?
Steel City Interactive announced that Undisputed would hit Steam Early Access on 31st January. This was after several delays. The game was first announced in April 2020 and a summer 2021 release was planned. However, the game had to be delayed. This is likely due, in part, to Steel City Interactive being a small studio with not many employees to work on the project.
The team has also repeatedly stressed that they do not wish to cut corners, wanting to release the best possible version of the game to players. The game will initially be available only on PC. However, the studio had confirmed earlier that the game would be making its way to consoles later. This means the game will eventually be available on platforms like the PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox One Series S and X.
Undisputed: Gameplay, System Requirements, and Price
The developers of Undisputed have seemingly gone all in trying to make the best possible boxing sim. Undisputed will include a variety of camera angles to make the game more immersive.
The game also gives players the ability to fight inside the pocket and explore boxing in a way unheard of in the virtual world. There will also be “impact areas” on opponents meaning, that depending on where they land, punches will have varying impacts.
With consultation from championship-caliber boxers, Steel City have implemented over 60 individual punches. The devs also used motion capture and 3D scans to achieve the best possible visual fidelity.
The game is set to release with the minimum system requirements being an Intel i5-8400, 8GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GTX 1060 with 3GB VRAM and 40GB of free disk space. However, Steel City recommends users have an Intel i5-10400, 16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GTX 1660 or higher. Fans will be delighted that the game isn’t very demanding and will run just fine on some older, slower PCs.
Steel City Interactive has been quite tight-lipped about the game’s pricing. However, it is very likely that Undisputed will release at the typical AAA game price-point of $60. They also confirmed that the price of the game would increase once it is out of early access.
