Lyndon Arthur and Anthony Yarde went toe to toe against each other in a twelve round contest for the vacant WBO intercontinental light heavyweight title last year. This encounter between Yarde and King Arthur was a nail-biting contest as both boxers put up a tremendous performance.
However, after trading blows for the entirety of the fight, it was Lyndon Arthur who emerged victorious via split decision. In what was an intense battle that lasted for twelve rounds, one of the judges interestingly scored the fight 117-111 in favour of Anthony Yarde.
Many people criticized this decision as they believed Lyndon should have won the fight via unanimous decision. Regardless of the judges’ decision, Arthur’s undefeated streak in pro boxing extended to 18-0.
On the other hand, Anthony Yarde faced his second career defeat after losing previously to losing Sergey Kovalev. Following this exceptional matchup that took place in December, both light heavyweights won their next fights.

Anthony Yarde bounced back by knocking out Alex Theran in August. Whereas the light heavyweight champion defended his title successfully by winning his fight against Davide Faraci via TKO. Thereafter a rematch between these two British boxers was announced.
Thus Lyndon and Yarde will square off once again in a rematch that will take place in London on 4th December. It is needless to say that the expectations of the fight fans will be very high after their first fight ended dramatically.
How did the first fight between Lyndon Arthur and Anthony Yarde play out?
Both Lyndon Arthur and Anthony Yarde were on the back of successive wins before squaring off against each other in a highly anticipated light heavyweight title fight last year in December.
Many expected the London born Yarde to come out all guns blazing in this contest as he boasts a brilliant record of 20 knockout wins. However, to everyone’s surprise, King Arthur controlled the fight and emerged victorious with a simple plan. The 30-year-old Mancunian used his superior reach and height advantage to its fullest.
Lyndon maintained his distance and landed numerous left jabs throughout the fight. Moreover, he constantly moved from one place to another to avoid big shots from Yarde. These tactics helped Lyndon claim an emphatic victory in this all English bout.
Interestingly, what made Lyndon Arthur’s victory very special is the fact that he barely used his right hand. Apparently, the 30-year-old suffered an injury to his right hand during the warm-ups. Due to this, he could not use his right hand in that fight.
With Lyndon getting enough time to recover from his injury. And Anthony Yarde coming back stronger in his previous fight fans can expect an intense rematch between these two British light heavyweights.
