Nineteen-year-old Carlos Alcaraz is considered the most talented youngster in the tennis fraternity right now. He has displayed his skills and his immense potential in a lot of tournaments including the Barcelona Open and Madrid Open, wherein he defeated both Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in a single run.
He had previously broken into the top 10 rankings of the ATP after winning the Barcelona Open, however, he has now entered the Top 5 rankings for the first time.
He is the second youngest player in the history of the ATP rankings to achieve this feat, Rafael Nadal being the youngest player back when he was 18 years old.
Carlos Alcaraz was seemingly very happy at this progress and in an interview he stated,
“It means a lot. The hard work that I put in every day for reaching my dreams, [No.] 1, and little by little I’m reaching my dream,”
“Top five for me is pretty amazing and I will keep going to be [No.] 1”.
Carlos Alcaraz would surely be eyeing his first grand slam title in the upcoming US Open which is supposed to be held from 29th August.
Carlos Alcaraz was not disappointed by his performance in the Hamburg Finals
Carlos Alcaraz recently participated in the Hamburg Open, wherein he was a top-seeded player. He was considered the favourite to win the finals, however, a surprising performance by Lorenzo Musetti proved to be too much for Carlos and he lost by 6-4, 6-7(6) and 6-4.
Carlos tried his best to recover in the second set by saving five points however, that was not enough for him to stop a fired-up Lorenzo.
Carlos, later on, reflected on the match and stated that his opponent deserved more to win the match than him since he was the better player on the court. He also said that at times Lorenzo was much more aggressive than him.
