Charles Oliveira is a known name when it comes to UFC. Oliveira has secured numerous wins on his record throughout his fighting career. But that doesn’t exactly seem true when it comes to the places he fights from. Seems like Canada didn’t prove to be much lucky for the fighter.
The former lightweight champ has a professional record of 33-9. But it appears that the fighter has lost all four bouts he engaged in Canada since the inception of his career.

Oliveira faced his first loss in Montreal in 2010 against Jim Miller where he lost via a kneebar submission. Next Oliveira fought it out with Cub Swanson in Toronto. In the fight, Oliveira encountered a knockout loss and he also missed weight for the bout.
Then, Oliveira faced Max Hollaway in his very first main event spot. Unfortunately, the fighter lost the bout via an oesophagus injury in Saskatoon in 2015.
And in his recent losses, Oliveria lost against Anthony Pettis in Vancouver through a guillotine choke in 2016.
Will fighting Beneil Dariush prove to be a risk for Charles Oliveira?
Charles Oliveira is all set to face his fellow lightweight opponent Beneil Dariush this Saturday at UFC 289. And interestingly, the fight is going to take place at Roger’s Arena in Vancouver.
The bout was originally supposed to take place on May 6 at the UFC 288 event. But according to ESPN, Oliveira withdrew because of a small injury. Now, the fighters are again set to battle it for a chance to fight for UFC lightweight title against the champ, Islam Makhachev.
In a recent interview with The Schmo, Dariush revealed that UFC 288 was not the first time the duo got their fight cancelled.
“You know this isn’t our first booking. You know one time I was offered to him and I think he said no. Then there was a second time where he did accept it and then dropped out. He fought Tony Ferguson after that. So this is the third time, so I’m just frustrated at this point.”
Beneil Dariush ranks at 4th position in UFC lightweight rankings, according to the rankings published on October 24, 2022. The Iranian native currently holds an impressive record of 22-4, which he amassed since he started his professional MMA career in 2009.
Charles Oliveira lost many of his fights through submission. But Oliveria also has a proven record of winning many fights with submissions as well as TKOs. On the other side, Dariush also seems quite dexterous when it comes to submissions.
Now it is only a matter of time till we get to witness the fight. Do you think Canada will be in favour of Oliveira this time, or do you think it will support Dariush?
