Choi Seung-Guk vs Park Hyun-Sung: Prediction and Fight Breakdown
On paper, this fight looks like a wash for Park Hyun-Sung. He dominates Choi Seung-Guk in the striking statistics. Seung-Guk style is also more calculated and technical compared to Park Hyun-Sung. Hyun-Sung lands 4.7 strikes per minute compared to 2.63 for Seung-Guk. 61% of the strikes he lands are significant strikes compared to Choi’s 43%.
However, Seung-Guk absorbs much less offense from his opponent compared to Hyun-Sung. Seung-Guk absorbs 2.33 strikes a minute whereas Hyun-Sung absorbs nearly 5 strikes per minute in his fights. It seems despite having a lackluster offense, Seung-Guk has the edge defensively.
Things aren’t much different when it comes to the fighters’ ground game. He lands nearly thrice the takedowns his opponent does in 15 minutes. Park lands 4.28 takedowns every 15 minutes which is a staggering number. He has also never been taken down in his professional career, boasting a 100% takedown defense. His opponent isn’t too far behind him in this metric with a 90% takedown defense.
Another noteworthy aspect of this fight is the performances both fighters are coming off on the “Road to UFC” show. Choi Seung-Guk won both his fights via unanimous decision. He played it safe and got the victory. However, he didn’t look too dominant in those fights.
On the other hand, Hyun-Sung Park decimated both of his opponents in the first round. He ended his first fight against Jeremia Siregar in 3 minutes, and 56 seconds by finishing him with punches. Hyun-Sung then went on to score an even quicker victory over Topnoi Kiwram after choking him out in 3 minutes, and 1 second. Based on these facts, it is hard to see Hyun-Sung Park lose at UFC Vegas 68.
Prediction: Hyun-Sung Park to win via KO/TKO
