Conor McGregor did a Twitter QnA last night and answered several questions from the fans, revealing a little about his personal life and his professional commitments going forward. McGregor revealed that he wants to compete two more times this year after the Dustin Poirier trilogy. Needless to say, it only leaves the fans excited for McGregor’s return to the Octagon after a lot of inactivity in the last several years.
Conor McGregor also revealed that he wouldn’t have his family by his side for a change for the first time against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 and talked about how it’s difficult to balance fight life with the family around. Dee Devlin has mostly been on McGregor’s corner since the start of his UFC career. It will be the first time when McGregor will step inside the Octagon without his family by his side in what Conor calls going into this fight as “a wild dog.”
Yes! I’ve been training my son since day 1. He will be ready if he decides too.
I am going to do this fight away from the family also. For a change. Fights and boppies and cuddles is a hard one to balance.
I’m going into this one a wild dog. https://t.co/fnQbJKzK9J— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) May 9, 2021
If we take a look at McGregor’s social media profile, it looks like the Notorious is still in Dubai and training alone for his upcoming bout. However, recently he has posted photos with various training partners, looking sharp ahead of the trilogy bout.
Yes. I’ve always liked how I looked, felt, and performed at 170.
I will most certainly be going back up! https://t.co/8PS6OOXO6i— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) May 9, 2021
McGregor also revealed that he still hasn’t given up on the idea of moving weights and going to the 170-pound division. McGregor has competed in the 170-pound division thrice in his mixed martial arts career, with two of those bouts coming against Nate Diaz. McGregor’s last performance inside the Octagon in the welterweight division came against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 where he picked up a scintillating stoppage win in the first minute of the very first round.
What’s next for Conor McGregor?
The winner of Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor 3 will likely face the winner of Charles Oliveira vs Michael Chandler expected to take place later this week in the main event of UFC 262.

McGregor has a lot to lose going against Dustin Poirier in the rematch. However, a win would once again plummet him to the top of the division and open the door for a potential title opportunity and a chance to become a two-time UFC lightweight champion.
