Conor McGregor

A big narrative going into the trilogy between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier has been the fact that there is animosity between these two fighters.

Ahead of the rematch at UFC 257, both Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier were respectful to each other and there was no trash talk during the press conference and leading up to the fight. Now, it can’t be said that it was the only reason why McGregor lost the fight. But, McGregor’s trash talk is certainly effective.

This mental warfare affected the outcome of McGregor vs Poirier 1 immensely and it could have had an effect on the rematch as well.

Fortunately, fans will get the old Conor McGregor for UFC 264 as both Poirier and The Notorious have been going back and forth on social media for quite a while now. And the latest message from McGregor just proves the fact that we are getting the old Conor McGregor for UFC 264.

In a recent message to Dustin Poirier, Conor McGregor said: “Dustin Peahead, I’m coming for you Peahead. Silly hill Billy”

Dustin Poirier is not going shy away from the trash talk with Conor McGregor

It’s true that Conor McGregor is the best trash talker in the game. However, McGregor will have a hard time talking trash to Dustin Poirier in the press conference as he lost the last fight.

The Diamond can easily refute any statement from McGregor during the press conference by bringing up the fact that he got knocked out for the first time in his MMA career at UFC 257.

Dustin Poirier is also a much different fighter mentally than he was when he first fought Conor McGregor. He has been a part of some huge fights in his career since then. So he knows how to deal with the pressure.

Mcgregor can’t win the trilogy by only talking trash in the press conference. He must show up at UFC 264 with a much different game plan than the second encounter.

McGregor has to check the leg kicks and he should fire his own leg kicks, which were missing in his last fight. Conor McGregor has an impressive front leg side kick, front leg body kick, and knee stomp that might be impactful against Dustin Poirier.

McGregor has all the skills to win the trilogy but one narrative remains the same between these two fighters. For McGregor to win the fight he has to finish Poirier in the first three rounds.
