The Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC from CD Projekt Red has generated remarkable sales figures in its first week, demonstrating the effectiveness of the developer’s efforts to enhance the game. The DLC has sold over 3 million downloads, mostly on PC. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are second and third, respectively.
The Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC from CD Projekt Red has now sold more than 25 million units. The game’s popularity appears to have increased even further with the release of the eagerly awaited Phantom Liberty DLC. While bug fixes and quality-of-life enhancements have been common since the game’s infancy, fans didn’t see a big change in gameplay until the Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen update.

The majority of its sales, however, have come in the last few years as a result of significant improvements, the enormously popular Edgerunners anime, and the most recent Phantom Liberty expansion. This has resulted in a quite remarkable rebirth.
Cyberpunk 2077 total budget and sale
In addition to sharing the game’s production and marketing expenses, CD Projekt also shared Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty’s initial sales figures. The studio continued to release updates as the game started to regain popularity before formally announcing an expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 in December 2022. Phantom Liberty is already proving to be a major hit for CDPR just a week after its debut.

Phantom Liberty PC sales accounted for around 2.04 million copies (68%), according to CDPR’s most recent earnings conference. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S sold 0.6 million and 0.39 million copies, respectively. The studio also said that Cyberpunk 2077 had sold more than 25 million units overall.
Phantom Liberty expansion spent more than $62.5 million making it and another $21 million promoting it, according to the company’s preliminary data. As a result, the cost of manufacturing the DLC was around half that of creating the complete Cyberpunk 2077 main game. The overall game budget therefore came to $83.5 million. The distribution of sales among platforms is uncertain. Phantom Liberty, which is presently available for $29.99, was similarly not disclosed as having an income by CD Projekt.
A little annoyed that Sony jacked the sale price of @CyberpunkGame by $5 when Phantom Liberty came out. I was ready to buy it expecting to pay $29.99 for the base game when the DLC launched with positive reviews and now it’s $35. Sorry @PlayStation, I won’t support that move.

It’s important to remember that not everything for the Polish game industry has been ideal. Although the studio still has five active projects in development, it is unclear how things will turn out for The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. Fans can still have optimism for CDPR in the coming years, though, if the introduction of Phantom Liberty is anything to go by.
