In an episode of “Live with Kelly and Mark,” which aired on Tuesday, July 16, the former WWE wrestler discussed his weight-loss journey.
To help him lose those extra pounds, Bautista invited his trainer and friend Jason Manly to Budapest, where he was filming Dune.“We did nothing but grapple, like for hours. And so I started shedding the weight off, and I figured, ‘I’ll just stick with it so I’ll get my brown belt,'” Bautista said. After taking a break from Brazilian jiu-jitsu for a while, Bautista said he “got back into it” and is now practicing with coaches while he films.
He further said, “I just shed about 50 more pounds. I was trimming down, and I’ve sacrificed a lot of muscle. But I’m okay with it, because I just feel more comfortable.” In other areas of his life, Bautista informed the co-hosts, he still doesn’t feel 55, even though he could be feeling his age in terms of fitness.

Bautista talked about his experience trying to break into the pro wrestling industry during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote his upcoming film My Spy The Eternal City. He went to a tryout at the WCW Power Plant in 1999 but had an unpleasant memory from the tryout. “…my first tryout was miserable. They told me to leave, and I’d never be a pro wrestler.” said Batista.
He further added “They literally told me to leave. They said, “You’re not gonna make it.” Even though his career didn’t start off well, Bautista joined the WWE a year later, beginning a journey that would ultimately lead him to superstardom.

After joining the business in 2000, The Animal became a mainstay on SmackDown after just two years. He formed Evolution in the beginning of 2003 alongside Randy Orton, Triple H, and Ric Flair, and became a breakout star in 2005. His last match was against Triple H at WrestleMania 35 after which the Animal announced his retirement and continues to vow the audience with his thrilling performances in several movies.
