Many NBA fans do not seem to agree with the recent contract that Cade Cunningham signed with the Detroit Pistons. To those who do not know, Cade is a young and upcoming NBA star who has spent his short career with the Pistons.
Although the team has not seen a lot of success in recent times, there is no denying that Cade is quite a good player and might even have the potential to turn the Pistons into a relevant franchise. As a result, one can understand why the Pistons offered Cade a 5-year contract worth $226 million.
Upon hearing that Cade Cunningham had received a rookie maximum contract extension from the Pistons, fans took to social media in order to make their feelings on the subject clear.
Most fans think Cade Cunningham should not be earning more than Tyrese Maxey
This offseason has seen several young stars sign large new contracts with teams. Cade is no exception and was able to get a $226 million contract from the Detroit Pistons. While Cunningham is certainly a solid young star, many fans believed that he was getting paid too much.

Some drew comparisons to Tyrese Maxey, who got $204 million from the Philadelphia 76ers. Not many fans would claim that Cade has been a better player than Maxey this season. Therefore, one might think Maxey should have gotten the bigger contract.
Cade getting a bigger bag than Maxey is absolutely criminal 😂

He’s the most overrated player I’ve ever seen… what’s he won?

The Detroit Pistons finished the season with the worst record in the entire NBA. They had just 14 wins and 68 losses. As a result, the team has made a change in coaching and has now retained a young star for the foreseeable future.
Cade Cunningham has already been dealing with injuries in his short career
Cade has not been as consistent and healthy as fans would have liked over the past few seasons. He missed 20 games this season and played in just 12 games last season. Although he could turn into an impressive player, the Pistons need to make sure that he remains healthy.
Retaining a young player will not change things a great deal for the Pistons. They will still have to make other changes if they wish to make a significant improvement this upcoming season and potentially make it to the playoffs.
