In a spectacular fight last year in December, Devin Haney defended his WBC lightweight title against Joseph Diaz, at MGM Grand Garden Arena. Haney retained his WBC lightweight title by winning via unanimous decision.
Haney is the current WBC lightweight champion. He is ranked as the world’s fourth-best active lightweight by The Ring magazine.
The young champion turned pro in 2015, at the age of 17, after winning seven National titles. Two years later, in 2017, Haney won the WBC Youth Lightweight title.
He won the interim WBC lightweight title in 2019 against Antonio Moran and was soon promoted to become the champion, following which Haney has defended the belt four times.

Joseph Diaz, on the other hand, is the former WBC interim lightweight champion. He has also held the IBF super featherweight title from 2020 to February 2021.
Diaz has competed for the WBC featherweight title as well, back in 2018. He has also held the WBC-NABF and WBO-NABO featherweight titles between 2015 and 2018.
As an amateur, he competed at the 2012 Olympics in the bantamweight division.
In one of the toughest fights of his career, Haney stole the light from the former junior lightweight champion and 2012 Olympian and defeated him via unanimous decision (117-111, 117-111, 116-112), to successfully retain the WBC lightweight championship.

While “JoJo” Diaz gave a tough fight, Haney took control of the situation, retreating out of danger and reverting back with fierce and clean jabs, with every sight of chance.
Though in the final round, Haney had to face some challenging situations, where Diaz loaded him with punches, back to back.
Nonetheless, Haney stood his ground and earned himself a sheer victory at the end of the 12th round.
Let’s take a look at how much both the boxers earned for the incredible performance inside the boxing ring.
Haney vs Diaz: How much did both the boxers earn?
