In the end, it was Jiri Prochazka who pulled off a brilliant rear-naked choke submission in the last thirty seconds of the fifth round to become the new undisputed light-heavyweight champion.
Speaking about this fight, Teixeira absorbed some remarkable blows to stay in the fight. As usual, Glover was quite slick with his ground game as he landed four takedowns and dished out some brilliant shots. Consequently, Teixeira was on course to win the fight as he had him hurt in the fifth round.
But he ended up making a few mistakes while attempting a takedown and Prochazka got some breathing space and he managed to finish the fight. It is needless to say that Glover made a costly mistake because he was ahead on the official scorecards and would have won the fight if he didn’t attempt those takedowns.
Nevertheless, this was a title fight to be remembered for the ages as both light heavyweights delivered to the expectations of fans by showing their brilliant skills inside the octagon.
