Trae Young the point guard of the Atlanta Hawks, will be playing under a new coach in the new future. The Hawks look for a new head coach. Trae Young will be away from altercations after Nate McMillan was dismissed by the Hawks. Nonetheless, Young’s upbringing has been heavily dependent on his parents, as his father was also a professional basketball player.
Trae’s father, Rayford Young, played a major part in the upbringing of Young’s life. The Hawks star’s actual name is Rayford Trae Young and was born in Lubbock, Texas. He was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks, after which he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks for Luka Doncic. Nonetheless, he is playing admirably and is a crucial member of the Hawks. Rayford exposed the game to Trae and as a result, he is playing in the league.
Unlike Trae Young, Rayford Young didn’t play in the NBA
Rayford in his early years was popular as a local celebrity and played basketball professionally. Young had a humble start to life, as he was born in a poor family, where his father was an oiler. However, this didn’t stop him from making a better life for himself. Rayford played for Texas Tech and represented his college team. He had a standout performance with Texas Tech.
During his college years, Rayford averaged 14.1 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.2 rebounds. He shot 37.9 % from 3-point range. However, with decent numbers, he went undrafted in the NBA Draft. Rayford had spells in Europe and played for a popular team in Europe, FC Porto. During his spell with Porto, he averaged 11.7 points, 2.1 assists, and 3.1 rebounds. He shot 38.5 % from beyond the arc.
Rayford ended his career at a young age after he started his family with Candice Nachtigall, Trae’s mother. He worked under Kelvin Sampson in Oklahoma, as an assistant. He worked as Medical Sales Rep and later joined a Clinical Medical Sales at Spectranetics. Rayford and Candice were high school sweethearts, and both enrolled at Texas Tech.

Trae has gone and made his father proud after becoming one of the best players in the NBA. Trae is averaging 26.9, 10.2 assists, and 2.9 rebounds. He is shooting 32.9% from beyond the arc. One thing is for sure, Trae inherited his father’s passion for the sport. He is a 2x NBA All-Star and is a McDonald’s All-American. Trae is making his father proud by playing at the top level in the NBA.
