It appears as if fans are losing trust in Adam Silver after hearing his frequent statements on the development and growth of the NBA. The majority of the basketball world should be aware that Silver is the current commissioner for the NBA and the face of the league from a managerial standpoint. Silver took over as commissioner in 2014 and has done a great deal to establish the NBA as a global league with a great reach and audience.
Although fans would struggle to point out many flaws in Adam Silver’s managerial style and the way he has handled league activities, the promises that he has made several times but never seen through to completion have not gone unnoticed. With that being said, one must certainly want to know more about his latest proclamation and how fans feel about it.
Fans want new NBA teams in Seattle and Las Vegas
Talks regarding a league expansion and introduction of new teams has been going on for a while. When the NBA was initially formed, there were only 11 teams. However, its growth and development over the years have led to the creation of 30 teams in present times. The most recent or youngest teams in the NBA are the New Orleans Pelicans and Charlotte Hornets.
Since it has been more than 20 years since any new teams were introduced, many believed that it was only a matter of time before the league continued its expansion to other cities with a large basketball fanbase. Adam Silver recently indicated that discussions on the subject were ongoing.
There’s been discussion about Seattle potentially landing an NBA team, per Adam Silver
“There’s been some discussion about going back to Seattle, potentially. Las Vegas, no doubt, is very interested in a team. Mexico City one day.”

While it would certainly be pleasing to see the league continue to expand and grow, fans remain unconvinced and pointed out that Adam Silver has been discussion the league expansion for over half a decade without taking any conclusive action, “There has been discussion for half a decade now.”

They need to give Seattle and Las Vegas a team

Since Seattle already had a team called the Supersonics before the franchise relocated to Oklahoma City, bringing another franchise to the city makes sense. Moreover, Las Vegas is where the NBA summer league is conducted and also has a large basketball fan base. Therefore, one can understand why fans want the league to bring in new teams to those locations.
LeBron James has shared an interest in owning an NBA team
Given that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has expressed an interest in becoming the owner of an NBA team, fans may be wondering what has stalled the discussions to get the job done. LeBron has revealed that it would be great for him to become a majority-stake owner in a new NBA team, potentially located in Las Vegas.
Since there are several other businessmen with enough money to start an NBA team, some may be confused as to what is restricting the league from going through with the expansion process. In any case, fans are left pondering over Silver’s words and whether a league expansion is going to occur in the near future.
