Dustin Poirier has issued a public apology to Conor McGregor for “jumping the boat” after Diamond accused McGregor’s team of stop responding to his team’s queried after the Notorious promised $500,000 in a donation to Dustin’s charity Good Fight Foundation.
Needless to say, the accusation from Poirier brought bad publicity to McGregor’s name who shot back at Poirier for making such claims. The Notorious even went on to say he won’t compete against Poirier. Later, he put out a tweet for a new opponent for UFC 264.

Needless to say, it got the attention of many contenders including the likes of Kevin Lee, Michael Johnson, and former champion Rafael dos Anjos, who expressed their interest in fighting the former dual champion.
However, soon after, UFC President Dana White made UFC 264 official, with the tickets to go live this weekend of the epic trilogy between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. The Notorious briefly spoke to ESPN journalist Ariel Helwani and got his statement on the official confirmation of the bout.
Conor McGregor x Dustin Poirier 3 is official for July 10 at T-Mobile Arena. Full capacity, per Dana White.
McGregor told me moments ago:
“I signed my bout agreement this morning. I’m going to rip this game a new asshole July 10th. The Mac is back in Sin City! Full house!”

Needless to say, Dustin Poirier’s claims regarding McGregor’s promise of funds has brought the former dual champion a ton of bad coverage. At a time when brand is what brings money to these personalities, it’s hard not to agree with Audie Attar that it was a bad move from Poirier to bring legal matters on Twitter.
Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor 3
The former interim lightweight champion understands that and agreed that his passion towards his charity made him do what he did. It’s all in the past now. Be that as it may, it will be interesting to see McGregor’s appraoch in lead-up to the trilogy bout. While in the recent press-conference both the fighters were seen holding hands, with McGregor posing with Poirier’s sauce, the heated rivalry has resulted in an ugly feud once again between both the fighters.
Conor McGregor has a lot to lose going into the trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. The Notorious is in need of a desperate win to stay in the top-ranks of the division. McGregor has not won a single bout in the lightweight division since capturing the lightweight gold against Eddie Alvarez back at UFC 206.
